i-Ready from Curriculum Associates
This article is a notebook about the Districtwide use of i-Ready as an academic tool. It is not meant to be comprehensive, but rather just a place we can store and update useful info about the application and our specific use thereof.

System requirements
The formal system requirements doc for the current year is linked above. What does that mean for us?
To summarize, for academic year 2024-25, the critical details for our fleet are as follows:
- Our Windows fleet should be reliably capable, so long as the Chrome browser is up to date. This year's requirement is Chrome 124 or higher.
- Our Chromebook fleet will depend both on model and being up-to-date. This year's requirement is Chrome OS 124 or higher.
- Model 3100 and newer devices should be fine, if Chrome OS is up to date at latest version.
(See here for the notebook on updating Chrome OS on a Chromebook.)
- Model 3180 devices will not be able to run i-Ready since they cannot update Chrome OS beyond version 103.x.
- Model 3120 devices will not be able to run i-Ready since they cannot update Chrome OS beyond version 93.x.
- Our iPad fleet will also depend on model and being up-to-date. This year's requirement is iOS 17.
- Models that are restricted to iOS 12 (e.g. iPad Air first generation, iPad Mini second and third generation) will not be able to run i-Ready.
- Models that are restricted to iOS 15 (e.g. iPad Air second generation, iPad Mini fourth generation) will not be supported* for i-Ready.
- Models that are restricted to iOS 16 (e.g. iPad 5th generation) will not be supported* for i-Ready.
- Models that are actively running iOS 17 or higher, are supported for i-Ready.
(See here for the notebook on updating iOS on your device.)
- Our Promethean IFP boards cannot run i-Ready natively (using its onboard Chromium browser) because Android devices are specifically blocked per the system requirements. (Prometheans run Android as an operating system.)
Getting to i-Ready
We use the District's integration with Clever to get to i-Ready. Our Clever portal will list the i-Ready app, and will provide credentials automatically when you launch it from the portal.

* Some people have observed that this year's i-Ready app may install on some iOS 16 and even iOS 15 devices, but on other iOS 15/16 devices it will fail to install at current version. Remember, too, that just installing the app doesn't guarantee it will then run without unpredictable behavior. It is thus not recommended to rely on officially unsupported devices for actual testing. :-)
