Links to resources hosted in SharePoint attempt to open in OneDrive application on Android mobile devices
When clicking on a public link to a document or video hosted in SharePoint, Android-based devices attempt to open the link in the OneDrive application if it is installed. By default, the OneDrive application registers itself as an intent-handler for links pointing to various SharePoint-related domains, including *.sharepoint.com.
This behavior is not ideal, as it requires a Microsoft account in order to use OneDrive.
Workaround
To work around this behavior, update the OneDrive application settings to ask how to open, rather than automatically attempting to open SharePoint links within the OneDrive application.
Step 1
In the Android application gallery, locate the OneDrive application. Long-press the application to reveal the actions menu and then tap App info.
Step 2
Inside App info, scroll down and tap Set as default. Some versions of Android may also list this option as Open by default
Step 3
In the default intent settings screen, tap Go to supported URLs. Some versions of Android may call this Open supported links
Tap on the Always ask option. This configures OneDrive to prompt for action, rather than automatically opening SharePoint links:
Step 4
Return to the link that was incorrectly attempting to open in OneDrive and click the link again. You should now be prompted on how to proceed. Select the web browser application you prefer (Chrome, Firefox, Samsung Internet, etc.) to open the link within your browser application rather than OneDrive.
