Bluebook Testing on a District iPad Copy Link

Modified on: Thu, Aug 22 2024 4:47 PM

This article is for students using the Bluebook testing app on a District iPad to take a digital test such as the College Board SAT or AP exam.

College Board resources

The student-facing guide for taking a test with the Bluebook testing app is at https://bluebook.collegeboard.org/students. (NOTE: You don't need to get the app from the App Store like that big, shiny Download Bluebook Now link suggests! Please read on and we'll go through that.)

Device requirements

Not all our iPads can run the Bluebook app, so please check your device beforehand. According to the Approved Testing Devices page:

Install the Bluebook Exams app from Jamf School Student

It is possible that the Bluebook Exams app may already be on your iPad; use the App Library to check for sure. (See Use the App Library to Find Apps on an iPad.)

If you don't already have the app installed, find and install the app from Jamf School Student, using either the My Resources master list or the iOS apps - testing collection. (See Use the Jamf School Student app on Your iPad for the mechanics of how to locate and install iOS apps onto your District iOS device.) In general, Jamf School keeps apps up to date all the time, but if you want to confirm the app version explicitly, you can always launch the app and look at the version in the lower right corner of the launch screen.

Opening the Bluebook app

When you open the app, you land on a screen where you can log in for testing. At screen bottom right is the aforementioned version checker, and at top right is a Test Your Device link you can use to do an affirmative check for device system requirements.

Personal iOS devices

The Bluebook Exams app does support personal iOS devices, if this is okay with your testing coordinator. Most of the above still applies, but if you use a personal iOS device, you will want to follow the guidance direct from College Board, at https://bluebook.collegeboard.org/students/download-bluebook to get the app onto your personal device, and not look for a Jamf School Student app that isn't there.  :-)  Also, you may want to see the article Bluebook Testing on a Personal Device.

If you have problems

If you wind up having problems along the way, please contact your testing coordinator and if necessary contact the Helpdesk.
